Hitler’s High Regard for Mothers: 1st Issue Mothers Cross – Silver – for 6-7 Children
(005320.38-E003569.93NHORLOSUC20V)
The silver issue of the Mother’s Cross was awarded to German mothers with 6 or more children, as a ‘Fuhrergeschenk’ – a gift from the Fuhrer.
These first issue style reproductions feature the text “Das Kind adelt die Mutter’, which translates to ‘The child ennobles the mother,’ above an engraving of Adolf Hitler’s signature. They were awarded annually, on the 12th August, to commemorate the birthday of Adolf Hitler’s mother, Klara.
This design was used in the early months of 1939, before being replaced by the dated version. These fine reproductions also come with 12 inches of the correct ribbon.
[Every year on his mother’s birthday and on Mother’s day he issued medals to German women according to how many children they raised. Bronze Cross: Awarded to mothers with four to five children. Silver Cross: Awarded to mothers with six to seven children. Gold Cross: Awarded to mothers with eight or more children. I have also read the story of how Hitler personally cared for his mother when she was dying of cancer. He cleaned the house and cooked by himself and cared for his mother until she died – he was only 18 years old. Jan]
